Jesus' Interior Prayer and Lamentation
My strength is dried up like a potsherd, and My tongue hath cleaved to My jaws,
and Thou hast
brought Me down into the dust of death. For many dogs have encompassed Me; the
council of the
malignant hath besieged Me, as a ravening and roaring lion. They have opened
their mouths against
Me. They have dug [pierced] My hands and feet; they have numbered all My bones.
And they have
looked and stared upon Me. They parted My garments amongst them, and upon My
vesture they cast
lots.
But I am a worm, and no
man: the reproach of men, and the outcast of the people. I am become a
reproach to them; they saw Me and they shaked their heads. I covered My soul in
fasting: and it was
made a reproach to Me. And I made haircloth My garment, and I became a byword to
them. They that
sat in the gate spoke against Me, and they that drank wine made Me [the butt of]
their song. All
they that saw Me have laughed Me to scorn. They have spoken with the lips, and
wagged the head: "He
hoped in the Lord, let Him deliver Him. Let Him save Him, seeing He delighteth
in Him."
Psalm 2 1:7-9, 14, 16-19; Psalm 68: 11-13; Psalm 108:25
O My people, what
have I done to thee, or wherein have I afflicted thee? Answer Me. I exalted thee
with great strength, and thou hast hanged Me on the gibbet of the Cross.
