I find no cause of death in Him. I will chastise Him therefore, and let Him go."

Jesus' Interior Prayer and Lamentation

My heart is troubled, My strength hath left Me, and the light of My eyes itself is not with Me.
My friends and My neighbors have drawn near, and stood against Me, and they that were near Me stood
afar off They that sought My soul used violence, and they that sought evils to Me spoke vain
things, and studied deceits all the day long.

But I heard not, as a deaf man, and as a dumb man not opening his mouth. And I became as a man that
heareth not, and that hath no reproofs in his mouth. For in Thee, O Lord, have I hoped. Thou wilt
hear Me, O Lord My God, for I am ready for scourges, and My sorrow is continually before Me.

Often have they fought against Me from My youth, but they could not prevail over Me. The wicked
have wrought upon My back; they have lengthened their iniquity. Scourges were gathered together
upon Me, and there is no health in My flesh. I am afflicted and humbled exceedingly.

O My people, what have I done to thee, or wherein have I afflicted thee? Answer Me. For thy
sake I scourged Egypt with its first-born, and thou hast scourged Me and delivered Me up. I fed
thee with manna in the desert; and thou hast beaten Me with blows and scourges.
